Mortgage rates utter a sigh of relief


After six straight weeks of mortgage increases, rates went lower as a result of increases in fuel pricing.

The 30-year fixed interest rate for home loans dropped eight basis points to 5.88 percent. The 15 year fixed interest mortgage rate fell six basis points to 5.5 percent.

On June 29th the rate for 30-year fixed interest home loans bottomed-out at 5.61 percent. After this drop, with debate rates rose steadily for well over one month to hit the 5.96 percent mark on August 10th. - Article by Stockton Marquette for CMR News.
